FAQ
answers to your most common questions
How often does the system regenerate or clean itself?
The system automatically regenerates every 10 days or between 1000-1500 gallons of water usage, whichever occurs first depending on calcium levels? This ensures consistent performance and water quality.
How long does my system regenerate during a cycle?
A regeneration cycle typically takes about 1 to 1 1⁄2, running in an on-off pattern throughout the process.
How many bags of potassium or salt should I put in my system?
We recommend adding no more than two bags at a time. Always wait to refill until the tank is almost empty for proper operation.
Are our systems filtration systems or softeners?
Our systems are designed to function as both filtration systems and water softeners. They are an all-in- one whole house system ensuring that all water entering your home runs through the filtration process.
Is my irrigation connected to my system?
No. Your irrigation system has a separate shut-off valve, typically located outside the home in the ground.
Why are my dishes cloudy in the dishwasher?
Cloudiness is often caused by using too much detergent. We recommend using very little detergent and avoiding dishwasher pods, as they contain too much soap for our system.
How do I reset my system after having it off?
Turn both red valves back to the parallel position, plug the system in, and then reset the clock to the correct time.
How do I reset my clock?
Press the Set Clock button: at them time of day display. Press the up arrow to adjust the hour, (must go past 12 to change am/pm). Press next adjust minutes mode. (use the up arrow to adjust minutes). Press next to exit edit mode.
How often do I need routine maintenance?
Regular Tasks (DIY)
Salt Levels (Monthly): Check salt levels every 4-6 weeks and add more as needed; as long as you visibly see salt your system is working. You want to use the salt.
Pre-Filter Cartridge If applicable – Well Water (Every 3-12 Months): Replace sediment or carbon pre-filters; frequency depends on your water’s impurity level (e.g., every 3-4 months for heavy sediment, up to 12 months for lighter use).
Bypass Valve (Every 6 Months): Exercise the bypass valve to keep it from seizing.
Cut-Off Valve (Every 6 Months): Exercise the bypass valves to keep it from seizing.
Annual/Infrequent Tasks
Professional Inspection (Annually): Have a pro inspect seals, valves, and the resin bed for optimal performance. Test water annually with inspection. Call us at Living Water Solutions of FL to sign up for annual inspections. 352-315-0767
Brine Tank Cleaning (Every 6-12 Months): Scoop out sludge and clean the tank to prevent buildup, especially if you have iron in your water.
Resin Bed Cleaning (Annually): Use a resin cleaner solution to remove iron/manganese buildup, if applicable (well-water).
Long-Term
Water Softener Media: The resin beads themselves, last 5-10 years or more before needing replacement.
